On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, how much do you rely on God? As we start this New Year, there are so many decisions and
self-reflection to be made. Many people making vows to be better this year, and
rightly so. There is no point starting a New Year, New Semester, New Job, New
life without planning to achieve some goals. However, I know for a fact that
having goals without God is extremely pointless. In the past, I strongly
believed in my ability to reach my goals. Throughout high-school, I included God
in ten percent of all my decisions. Now that I think about it, I wish I was wiser.
I made God to be the friend I spoke to once a year. You know that friend you only
call when you need something? Yeah he was that to me. And I can tell you, I suffered
the consequences. I took decisions because I believed that the statistics I
worked hard for in High School will provide Scholarships, College Acceptances
and Job opportunities. I forgot I was the daughter of the greatest provider. I believed
that the numerous awards I got were enough to help me stand out on my college applications.
I forgot that God is the greatest highlighter! I mean He spoke light into a
dark world (Genesis 1:3).
This past summer, I decided to consciously include God in my
life. It was a challenge, but I had God’s help. I went into my first semester
of college feeling like a super woman because I knew God had my back. Of
course, it was a big adjustment-it is still a big adjustment-, there were some
days that were hard for me, but I tell you God never left my side. I came out
of this semester a winner so many times. My point is, MAKE GOD FIRST. It is
harder than you think, but he is ready to be your best-friend. God is waiting
for you and he wants to give you grace to rely on him. All you have to do is run
into his arms. I promise you, there is no other place you want to be.
READ: 2nd Corinthians 12: 9a
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for
you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
PRAYER: Abba, please help whoever is reading this become more trusting in you and understand the love you have for them. Amen.
